Atlantic rollers make Newquay (6 miles) the surfing capital, its beaches sheltered by spectacular cliffs and headlands. A wide range of entertainments is on offer here from crazy golf, a zoo, boating lake, 10 pin bowling, and shark fishing, to lively nightlife. Just 4 miles away Perranporth, a popular family resort with miles of golden sands, a mecca for swimmers and surfers offers riding and golf, and St Piran's Round, an Iron Age fort which lies just east of the town. The cathedral city of Truro lies just 6 miles away, with its cafs, pannier market and specialist quarter providing interesting shopping. Many National Trust houses and gardens can be found within a short drive and some of Cornwall's most famous gardens lie within easy reach the amazing Eden Project is only 20 miles away and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, near Mevagissey, are 15 miles.The village of Goonhavern (1 miles) has a shop, pub, and a large garden centre, and there is coarse fishing available just 400 yards away.
