Just 3 miles away lie the mysterious and beautiful waters of Loch Ness where visitors can take a boat trip to the haunting ruins of Castle Urquhart whilst at Inverness the historic capital of the Highlands and only 7 miles distant there are boat trips to spot the dolphins in the Moray Firth – visits to Cawdor Castle and the battlefield of Culloden Moor are a must. Fort Augustus (7 miles) is a most attractive village bisected by the Caledonian Canal and home to a fascinating flight of locks as well as restaurants shops and a golf course. The West Coast is also well worth a visit – Eileen Donan Castle Plockton and Skye are all within easy reach. Clay pigeon shooting kayaking and even deer stalking are available locally and there is a good shop/post office and a pub serving food in Moriston 2 miles.
